Floyd and Beauty

Floyd and Beauty, 1996

She was such a lonely lady
She sat on a porch step just off the concrete
with her dog Beauty
and let the sun
wrinkle her face

Beauty had gray whiskers and a beer barrel body
and wagged her tail stiffly

Sometimes at night
the lady sat in her sidewalk window
and looked out at the street
and Beauty
tied to the porch rail
