Oh sleek seductress

You sit there waiting

For my touch

You blink at me

in breathless anticipation

enticing me

Your camel colored

Wrap, fitted snuggly

about your slim, trim form

Forced

by society

to need you

to want you

I abjure you!

I will not be forced into this marriage

of convenience

I will not

be at your beck and call

twenty four seven!

Ring, ring, ring

No, no, no

Ring, ring, ring

Hello?

One Response to “I Abjure You! by Marna Blanchard”

  1. Marty Williams Says:

You capture our love-hate relationships with our “devices” very well, Marna. I love the formality of “abjure” in such sharp contrast to the electronic lure!
