Close your blinds, lock your doors, turn off your phone, cancel your newspapers, fill out the Vacation Hold at the post office. Lie and tell eveyone you are going to Europe or Asia for the summer. (You may have to let your partner back in the house but restrict him or her to the nether regions, reminding her that Grace Poole was the hero of Jane Eyre and spent most of her time in the attic. This too is a lie.) Then read. Doesn’t matter what, just do it for a long time. See you in the fall.
