Lift, blue, past the atmosphere

Show us the stars

Let our heads cool awhile in the nothing void

There is simply too much to see here

The sun is too good, too thorough

Fall back, sun! Take a nap!

Let some other world feel the weight of your rays

Squint and shrivel under its hot interrogation bulb

Let the season turn

Toward the darkness, more stars

Let the lips, let the hands, chapped and puckered

Soften with the milk of a crisp night

Free, like Eurydice, from the light
